Ms. Wade recently retired as a Senior Service-First representative for State Farm Insurance Company. Mrs. Wade has served on the Board since her election in 1998 and is now serving her fourth four-year term.

Nancy Phillips
Ms. Phillips was elected to the board in April, 2000 and is currently serving her third four-year term. In addition to her duties as a Board Member, she does freelance work as a voice-over artist and is creator and producer of "Murphry's Burrow," a child's educational program shown on Channel 3.

Collier Smith
Ms. Smith is the parent of three Murfreesboro City Schools students. Mrs. Smith is a founding trustee and serves as secretary of The City Schools Foundation which provides funds for science and math enrichment as well as parity within MCS schools. She was appointed to the Board in 2011 and is serving her first term.

Vice Chair of the Board Nancy Duggin
Mrs. Duggin taught in Murfreesboro City Schools for twenty-four years. She is currently president of ASK Associates (Adaptation of Skills & Knowledge) and works as an educational consultant. She was elected to the board in 2008 and is serving her first term.

Susan Andrews
Dr. Andrews is a physician in the family practice of Dr. Susan Andrews and Dr. Randall Rickard. She was initially elected to the Board in 1996 and is now serving her third four-year term.

Butch Campbell
Mr. Campbell is a retired teacher and principal. During his career, he served 31 years as principal of Walter Hill Elementary in the Rutherford County School System. He was elected to the board in 2008 and is serving his first term.

Ron Washington
Mr. Ron Washington was appointed as City Council's liaison to the School Board in May, 2006. He is the District Manager for Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation.

The award is given for participation in activities outside of local school board obligations. There are five levels of achievement.
